My earliest memories are of sitting at my little round table, red-handled glue pot in front of me, scissors in hand, construction paper everywhere. And as I worked, I told stories to my stuffed animals: Monkey, Snakey, and a purple cow I named Violet. I was constantly creating back then, and still am now. I feel like PigPen from the Peanuts comic strip. He always left a trail of dirt. I leave pieces of paper, ephemera, and body parts (for my fauxbots).
I've always preferred making art by putting things together over drawing or painting. So while other kids were coloring with crayons, I was cutting up construction paper. My techniques and components have evolved, but I'm still sticking stuff together. Sometimes I work in two dimensions, sometimes, three, but my main focus is exploring ways to illustrate stories for children.
